Retailers stock up on products for the holiday shopping seasons, but they don’t always sell out their stock. Year-End deals are a way for these retailers to clear out their holiday inventories to make space for the new year.
This is also why the biggest discounts on New Year’s Day tend to be on products that were less popular than expected. But, even popular products often go on sale, because retailers often prefer to buy too much stock rather than too little (because when they sell out they can’t make money anymore, whereas excess stock can usually still be turned around for a discount price).
Board games are a big holiday item because they make great gifts, and therefore everything we just said applies to board games. So, if you’re looking to buy board games on a discount, you should watch the Year-End sales.
